More Sermon Recommendations (And a Prayer of Thanksgiving for a New Church)

Several months ago, I recommended some gifted preachers who have sermons online. (That post can be found here.) I would now like to recommend two new preachers - Rev. Dr. John Yates III and Rev. David Cumbie. They are the pastors at Holy Trinity Church Raleigh, an Anglican church that is a member of the Anglican Church in North America. Holy Trinity is a wonderful place - the Bible is preached every week, the doctrine is solid, the liturgy is beautiful, and the congregation is full of people who love Jesus. The Holy Spirit is clearly at work in this church, and Jill and I are grateful for the opportunity to participate, however small our contribution may be.

Anyway, I'm supposed to be recommending sermons, so let me get to it. John and David are both remarkably gifted preachers, and they don't just teach on Sundays - Holy Trinity has a weekly adult formation class, and there are other classes besides this one. Recently, John and David preached a five part series on what it means to be a godly man. I highly recommend listening to the entire series. They also recently concluded a series on discipleship, and I highly recommend this series as well. (The discipleship series was given in church; the godly man series was given outside of church.) The sermons for both of these series can be found here.

I can honestly say that John and David are some of the best preachers that I have heard. If you are looking for sermons to listen to, then I would give these guys a try. I have learned as much from them as I have from Tim Keller, Sinclair Ferguson, or even the preaching staff at my old church in Chicago (and that, my friends, is saying a lot.) Finally, if you're near Raleigh, NC, I would like to invite you to worship with us. We'd be happy to see you.
